Babylon
It fell from within. It was not
conquered and defeated by another.
Session 8 Evil on a White Horse (Part 2)
In Session 7 we studied the characteristics of the antichrist. His personality traits and
goals that will drive him. In this study we will see the highlights of what he will be
doing during the Tribulation.
We have already seen how the antichrist
was introduced in Revelation 6:1-2. He
enters the stage there as a conqueror bent
on conquest. When the scriptures say he
will conquer it should be emphasized that
he will accomplish more than any other conqueror that has preceded him. He will
have the great power of Satan himself (The Dragon) energizing his military exploits.
We will now look into Daniel for a detailed flow of history concerning empires that
spans right up to the point of, and including the Antichrist’s empire. Please read
Daniel 7:1,4-8.
We will only lightly touch on and explain
the symbolism in these verses so don’t
get discouraged by all the wild animals
mentioned. If you research these verses
closely with other resources you will see
amazing details of history represented
that flowed exactly as prophesied. We are
only hitting the highlights here.
1. What empire does Daniel live in at the
moment he is writing this prophesy
down?
So, we see that verses 5 through 8 are in
Daniel’s future. Please review the
Sequence of Worldly Empires box for a
quick overview of how many scholars
interpret this scripture’s symbolism.
2. From what you know about history,
what is different about the Roman empire
from all the previous empires?
There you have a brief overview of world
empires.
Revelation 6:1-2 NIV
1 I watched as the Lamb opened the first of the seven seals. Then I
heard one of the four living creatures say in a voice like thunder,
“Come!” 2 I looked, and there before me was a white horse! Its
rider held a bow, and he was given a crown, and he rode out as a
conqueror bent on conquest.
Daniel 7:1,4-8 NIV
1 In the first year of Belshazzar king of Babylon, Daniel had a
dream, and visions passed through his mind as he was lying in bed.
He wrote down the substance of his dream.
4 “The first was like a lion, and it had the wings of an eagle. I
watched until its wings were torn off and it was lifted from the
ground so that it stood on two feet like a human being, and the mind
of a human was given to it.
5 “And there before me was a second beast, which looked like a
bear. It was raised up on one of its sides, and it had three ribs in its
mouth between its teeth. It was told, ‘Get up and eat your fill of
flesh!’
6 “After that, I looked, and there before me was another beast, one
that looked like a leopard. And on its back it had four wings like
those of a bird. This beast had four heads, and it was given authority
to rule.
7 “After that, in my vision at night I looked, and there before me
was a fourth beast—terrifying and frightening and very powerful. It
had large iron teeth; it crushed and devoured its victims and
trampled underfoot whatever was left. It was different from all the
former beasts, and it had ten horns.
8 “While I was thinking about the horns, there before me was
another horn, a little one, which came up among them; and three of
the first horns were uprooted before it. This horn had eyes like the
eyes of a human being and a mouth that spoke boastfully.
